Paglia di Vienna: material and identity in the Plinius Lake Como project

In the project developed for Plinius Lake Como, on Lake Como, material becomes a true design language made of textures, light, and details capable of defining the identity of spaces.

The leading element of this vision is the Paglia di Vienna from the PressWood line by Enrico Colombo, chosen as a distinctive feature for the furnishing of the rooms developed together with Castagna 1939.

Iconic in the history of design, Vienna straw is reinterpreted in a contemporary key through PressWood panels. The result is a decorative surface that retains all the charm of tradition while perfectly meeting the needs of modern interior design.

The woven pattern of Paglia di Vienna creates a light and sophisticated visual effect, capable of interacting with both natural and artificial light, generating depth, movement, and continuity within the spaces. It is not just an aesthetic detail, but a true design component able to define the atmosphere of the rooms.

Set within an exclusive context such as Lake Como, Paglia di Vienna harmoniously dialogues with the other materials and furnishings, creating a balance between elegance, warmth and contemporary style. The PressWood panels become an integral part of the guest experience, enhancing each space with discretion, personality, and character.

This project demonstrates how a decorative element can become the protagonist when material, design, and functionality come together coherently.
